Best Drama Series at the most recent Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, Laura’s Treatment stars Valérie Bonneton, a leading figure of French cinema who has worked with directors such as André Téchiné, Patrice Leconte and Guillaume Canet. The series confronts, head-on and without easy answers, themes such as toxic relationships, femicide and patriarchy. For this reason, it will be screened as part of a special “anti-patriarchal” evening alongside Riot Women.
Laura, a pharmacist and mother, has devoted her life to helping victims of domestic violence, founding the organization ‘Women Standing Tall.’ But when she witnesses the shocking murder of one of her members, her world is shattered. Tormented by the femicide and outraged by the indifference of the police and justice system, Laura decides to take matters into her own hands. How far will she go to protect the women around her?
