Italian actress Stefania Spampinato, known for her roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19, meets audiences for a special conversation about her international career and the evolution of contemporary television storytelling.
Biography
Stefania Spampinato was born in Catania, Sicily, and raised in the small town of Belpasso, at the foot of Mount Etna. At the age of six, she began dancing. Her passion for the arts was so strong and undeniable that her mother began sewing her dance costumes to help cover the cost of her dance school tuition.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Milan to study dance, acting, and singing, and later graduated from the Academy of Arts. These studies enabled her to build a successful career in dance and theater that lasted nearly ten years, taking her to cities such as Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Mumbai, and Berlin. During this time, she collaborated with Joaquin Cortez, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, The Voice UK, and X Factor US and UK. In 2011, she purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles.
In 2017, she became a recurring character on the ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”, and in 2020, a leading actor of “Station 19”, the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, where she portrays Dr. Carina DeLuca. In 2025, she joined the cast of the second season of “Landman” alongside Andy Garcia, Demi Moore, and Billy Bob Thornton.
Among her other projects, she appeared in James Mangold’s film Le Mans ’66 (Ford v Ferrari), starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. In 2019, she co-starred with Alessandro Siani in the film The Most Beautiful Day in the World (Il giorno più bello del mondo), written and directed by Siani.
