The Terror is the first American title competing at IGS and marks the eagerly anticipated return of the acclaimed horror anthology. In its third incarnation, the series reconnects with its literary roots through an adaptation of the novel by acclaimed African American author Victor LaValle. A prestigious production from Sir Ridley Scott’s company, it is overseen by Halt and Catch Fire showrunner Christopher Cantwell and features a cast including Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Judith Light (Transparent) and CCH Pounder (The Shield).

Pepper, a working-class moving man, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper. Inside the institution – home to those society would rather forget – he must contend with patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he discovers that the only path to freedom is to confront the entity feeding on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls. But doing so may reveal that the worst demons of all live inside him.
