Giorgio Armani’s legacy is heading to the small screen. A television series based on the life and career of the legendary Italian designer, one of the most influential figures in international fashion, is currently in development. The project will be produced by Lux Vide, part of the Fremantle Group, in collaboration with the Giorgio Armani fashion house, and is being developed for an international audience.
The series will be directed by Ferzan Özpetek, fresh from the success of Diamonds and a longtime friend of Armani. The filmmaker will chronicle both the personal and professional journey of the designer, exploring not only the visionary behind Italian fashion but also the man behind the brand that conquered Hollywood and runways around the world.
A portrait of fashion, cinema, and private life
Özpetek has revealed that he knew Armani well beyond official events, sharing conversations with him about cinema, art, architecture, and creativity. That close relationship is expected to shape the series, offering viewers a more intimate portrait of the designer’s personality.
The screenplay will be written alongside Francesco Arlanch, whose previous credits include Doc – In Your Hands and Medici. Together, they aim to create a biographical drama that will resonate with international audiences while telling the story of a designer whose vision helped redefine the concept of Italian elegance around the world.
The Armani archives will open for the production
One of the project’s most significant elements is the direct involvement of the Giorgio Armani fashion house, which will grant the production access to its archives, historic creations, and iconic locations. This unprecedented collaboration will allow the series to recreate the defining moments of Armani’s career with greater authenticity.
For Lux Vide, the series represents a long-standing ambition. The production company has described the project as a celebration not only of one of fashion’s greatest visionaries but also of a figure who helped promote Made in Italy worldwide, transforming his name into a globally recognized symbol of style and excellence.
