HISTORY AND ORIGIN

FROM THE BEGINNINGS TO 2016

The Italian Global Series Festival 2025 originates from the legacy of the historic Roma Fiction Fest , a television fiction festival that was active for ten editions starting in 2007.
With the aim of promoting Italian and international productions, presenting new series, and encouraging meetings among the industry’s professionals, over the years the Roma Fiction Festival hosted prestigious personalities in the Film & Television landscape, such as Helen Mirren, Gigi Proietti, Richard Dreyfuss, Franca Valeri, and Elio Germano. At the heart of the Festival were numerous awards – Best Product, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director, the Francesco Scardamaglia Award for Best Screenplay, and the L.A.R.A. Award for Best Performer.

The Festival also offered a prestigious showcase of successful Italian TV series such as Gomorrah and The Mafia Kills Only in Summer, contributing to their international diffusion. Now, after the last edition in 2016, the Festival resumes with a new vision, with the intent to explore the latest TV series semantics while mirroring the evolution of the sector over the last decade, launched toward the future of serial storytelling.

NEW EDITION

The 2025 Italian Global Series Festival takes up the prestige of the historic Roma Fiction Fest in a contemporary key. With an eye to the past and another towards the future, the Festival displays a completely new guise to depict the world of TV Series of today and tomorrow. This year, the event moves to the lively Riviera Romagnola, between Riccione and Rimini, from June 21 to 28.

A busy program will liven up these locations with screenings, awards, activities, and events attracting protagonists of the sector: actors, producers, directors, talents, and journalists. While representing an important platform for the TV Series industry, the Festival remains dedicated to the heart of each and every story: the audience. Focused on entertaining, engaging, and inspiring, the Italian Global Series Festival invites all viewers to discover the universe of TV productions up close, accompanied by its protagonists and professionals, over eight days dedicated to those who are passionate about stories and those who make them possible.

INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY

The festival will take place from June 21 to 28, during which the audience’s liking will be met by a varied and vast program, including TV series, TV films, and mini-series from all over the world. The International Competition is meant to be the heart of the festival, with a list of titles to be evaluated by a jury composed of professional filmmakers (actors/directors/authors/producers), who will confer many awards upon the various works.

OUT OF COMPETITION – PREVIEWS

The Festival will host several domestic and international evening previews of new TV series or films made in 2025 and completely unreleased in Italy.
