Released on September 3 on Netflix, “The Gentlemen 2” expands the universe created by Guy Ritchie, bringing Italy to the heart of the story not only through its locations, but also through an increasingly prominent Italian presence within the production.
The second season, consisting of eight episodes, introduces new cast members, while the story unfolds between the British and Italian criminal underworlds. This helps give the new season an even more international identity, without losing its connection to Italy.
Three Italian actors for Guy Ritchie
One of the defining elements of the second season is the introduction of new characters connected to the Italian side of the story. Produced by Netflix, Moonage Pictures, and Miramax TV, the series expands its international cast with three Italian actors, who are called upon to navigate the criminal world portrayed by Guy Ritchie.
Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, and Sergio Castellitto join the cast in prominent roles. Their presence strengthens the series’ connection with Italy, which is not merely one of the season’s settings but becomes an integral part of the new narrative dynamics.
Benedetta Porcaroli stands out in particular, playing Bella, a new character who becomes involved in Eddie and Susie’s affairs. Her character helps expand the world of the series and introduce new dynamics into the story.
Alongside her are Michele Morrone, who plays Cico Maldini, and Sergio Castellitto, who portrays Marco Moretti.
From the United Kingdom to Lake Maggiore
The second season also takes The Gentlemen to Lake Maggiore, chosen as one of the main settings for the expansion of Eddie and Susie’s business operations.
The Italian scenes, filmed in 2025, were shot mainly in Verbania, Pallanza, and Stresa.
One of the most recognizable locations is Villa Rusconi-Clerici in Pallanza, used to portray Bella’s palace. A temporary pier was also installed in front of the villa for the filming.
The production also used the Grand Hotel Majestic in Verbania and various views along the lakeside, while Stresa and the Borromean Islands helped create the Italian setting for the second season.
The second season in numbers
One week after its release, “The Gentlemen 2” had garnered 6.7 million views on Netflix in its first four days of availability, for a total of 49.8 million hours viewed.
The series debuted in third place on the global chart for English-language television productions, while in Italy it reached the top spot on Netflix’s chart.
An important result, although lower than the first season’s debut, which had reached 12.2 million views over the same four-day period.
