House of the Dragon Season 3 continues to reveal new details about the war that will reshape Westeros. In the latest teaser released by HBO, viewers get their first look at Alysanne “Black Aly” Blackwood, a fan-favorite character from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood who is expected to play a major role in the Dance of the Dragons.
Played by Annie Shapero, Black Aly officially joins the series as one of the strongest supporters of the Blacks. Footage shown in the behind-the-scenes preview hints at a character deeply involved in the ground battles of the upcoming season, expanding the focus beyond dragons and royal rivalries.
The North enters the conflict
The teaser also introduces several characters connected to the North and its allied houses. Among them is Roderick Dustin, known as “Roddy the Ruin,” played by Tommy Flanagan, leader of the Winter Wolves. In addition, Dan Fogler appears as Torrhen Manderly.
With these new additions, the series appears ready to shift part of its narrative toward the human cost of the Targaryen civil war, showing how the great Northern houses become directly involved in the conflict.
Black Aly also holds an important place in the larger history tied to House Stark. In Martin’s novels, her storyline becomes closely connected to the political balance that emerges after the war.
A season focused on large-scale warfare
Season 3 will consist of eight episodes and, according to early previews, will place a stronger emphasis on battlefield sequences and the military dimension of the war. Furthermore, the new footage highlights closer combat scenes and large-scale confrontations that expand the visual scope of the series.
House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on June 21, 2026, on HBO and will continue adapting the events of the Dance of the Dragons as the story moves toward the decisive stages of the conflict.
