The Savant, the miniseries starring Jessica Chastain, finally has a release window after a year of waiting.
Apple TV had put the series on hold due to the themes explored in the story, which focuses on the prevention of terrorist attacks and features sequences related to counterterrorism efforts.
The suspension came shortly after the killing of Charlie Kirk, at a particularly sensitive time in the United States. The platform had cautiously stated that the decision was mutually agreed upon, but did not provide a new release date at the time.
Jessica Chastain had expressed her disappointment over the delay while emphasizing her respect for Apple. The actress also noted that the climate in the United States made the themes explored in the series even more relevant.
The miniseries has now been rescheduled for spring 2027 on Apple TV and will consist of eight episodes.
Plot and Cast
The Savant follows an undercover investigator, played by Jessica Chastain, who infiltrates an online hate group in an attempt to stop extremists planning acts of violence.
The miniseries was created by showrunner and executive producer Melissa Gibson and is produced by Fifth Season and Anonymous Content. Matthew Heineman serves as director.
In addition to Jessica Chastain, the cast includes Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, Michael Patrick Thornton, Pablo Schreiber, and James Badge Dale.
