Four Series Selected at the Italian Global Series Festival Featured in The Guardian’s Ranking of the Best Television of 2025

Official Statement from the Italian Global Series Festival

Artistic Director Marco Spagnoli proudly underscores that four series presented at the inaugural edition of the Italian Global Series Festival were featured in The Guardian’s prestigious ranking titled “A total knockout! The best television you never watched in 2025”: Mix Tape, Assassin, Reunion, and Miss Austen.

“It was an honour for us to host the premiere of these four titles across the festival’s various sections, alongside many other remarkable submissions from around the world, reaffirming the international scope, quality, and cultural relevance of our event,” Spagnoli stated. He added, “We recall that Miss Austen was included in the non-competitive ‘Extraordinary Women’ section, while the other three titles received major accolades in the official competition.”

In the Drama section, the jury chaired by Cristina Comencini and composed of Francesco Centorame, Debi Mazar, Margherita Mazzucco, Frank Spotnitz, and Clive Standen awarded the Maximo Best Director prize to Lisa Mulcahy for The Assassin.

In the Limited Series category, the jury chaired by Bille August and composed of Barbara Abel, Deborah Davis, Alan Gasmer, and Riccardo Scamarcio presented the Maximo Best Director Award to Lucy Gaffy for Mix Tape, and the Maximo Best Actor Award to Matthew Gurney for Reunion.

These awards celebrate the excellence of the works and talents the festival was privileged to present, as part of a project conceived and promoted by APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the municipalities of Riccione and Rimini, SIAE, and AGIS.
