The White Lotus 4: filming begins in Cannes with cast, locations and plot details

Filming for The White Lotus 4, the new season of the anthology series created by Mike White, has officially begun in the south of France. After previous seasons set in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the story now moves to the French Riviera, including Cannes, Saint-Tropez and the Principality of Monaco. The new episodes will be released on Sky, NOW and HBO Max.

The fourth season maintains the narrative structure that has defined the series so far, following a group of guests and hotel staff over the course of a week in a luxury resort. Once again, the stay is marked by tensions and complex dynamics, with a mystery expected to unfold throughout the story.

Between Cannes and the French Riviera

The core setting of the new season is the French Riviera, with part of the story unfolding during the Cannes Film Festival. Filming takes place across several iconic locations, including Saint-Tropez, Monaco and Paris, although the main action remains centered on the Côte d’Azur.

Two main properties will represent the resorts featured in the series. On one side is the White Lotus du Cap, recreated within the historic Airelles Château de la Messardière. On the other, the White Lotus Cannes, a second location that helps shape the storyline connected to the festival setting.

The cast of the new season

As with previous installments, the fourth season introduces an entirely new ensemble cast. Among the actors portraying guests and staff are Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina and Kumail Nanjiani.

They are joined by a wide group of performers who will contribute to the series’ ensemble dynamics, including Chloe Bennet, Max Greenfield, Heather Graham, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.

Production and development

Mike White continues to lead the project, serving as creator, writer and director of the series. Production remains in the hands of David Bernad and Mark Kamine, ensuring continuity with previous seasons.

Filming is currently underway and is expected to continue over the coming months. Based on the timeline of earlier seasons, the new episodes are not expected to premiere before 2027, although no official release date has been announced.

With The White Lotus 4, the series continues its anthology format, introducing new settings and characters while maintaining a recognizable structure. The move to the French Riviera provides a fresh narrative backdrop, where luxury, relationships and tension unfold within an international context closely tied to the world of cinema.
