Libera 2: filming begins for the second season

Filming has officially started on Libera 2, the second chapter of the series starring Lunetta Savino as the lead magistrate. The production, led by 11 Marzo Film in collaboration with Rai Fiction, returns to set under the direction of Gianluca Mazzella. The cast also includes Matteo Martari and Daisy Pieropan.

Production began in Rome at the end of February and will continue in the coming weeks in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. In particular, Libera 2 will be filmed between Trieste and Muggia, with a schedule running through May. The plan includes several weeks of shooting on location, confirming the region’s importance to the project.

Following the first season, the series strengthens its connection with the city of Trieste, which once again plays a central role in the narrative. Filming spans multiple areas of the city, from institutional buildings to urban landscapes, helping shape the show’s visual identity. Among the locations featured is Palazzo Carciotti.

The project is supported by the Ministero della Cultura and developed with the backing of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission – PromoTurismoFVG. The return of Libera to the region further highlights the growing strategic role of Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italian audiovisual production.
